Pure 3D printing does not fully exploit the potential of additive manufacturing with SLM for prototyping. That is why we will give you advice and support through a dense service network at every stage of component development: from the initial design and CAD model through to metal 3D printing, machining and finishing.

EOPD process

Before 3D printing, our EOPD process (property-optimized editing for printout) ensures that your data is prepared to an optimum extent. In doing so, we combine our expertise in prototyping and additive manufacturing with our metalworking know-how to integrally optimize the 3D printing process. Corrective variables include questions regarding the positioning of the component in the construction space, diminishing residual stresses or reducing costs for finishing.

 

Machinery

Our current 3D printing machinery comprises six SLM machines: 2 SLM 280 Single Laser, 1 SLM 500 Quad Laser and 3 SLM 500 Twin Laser. These provide an additive manufacturing capacity of around 30,000 hours. Unlike laser sintering, selective laser melting (SLM) processes steel and aluminium. Our 3D printers make it possible to produce parts from materials such as stainless steel 316L, maraging steel 1.2709, aluminium AlSi10Mg and the Inconel alloy IN625 (nickel).

We have unlimited access to resources at our parent company, Rheinmetall Automotive AG, whether we require quality assurance, simulation, analyses, laboratory work, product refinement or further machining such as welding, painting, coating or heat treatment.
